Account Chooser Working Group

The OpenID Foundation Account Chooser working group will be meeting in-person at Google's Mountain View, CA offices. While the meeting is open to anyone, we expect everyone to be involved in the discussions. That could include feedback from websites who are considering implementing an account chooser. - One of the jobs of the OpenID Foundation is to ensure that OpenID specifications are freely implementable. So please consider signing an OpenID Contribution Agreement ahead of time and make a post to the working group mailing list to notify us. If you don't, then please only provide feedback that does not have IP ramifications.
- We plan to do a live video broadcast of the event via Google Hangouts and publish the video afterwards. If you are interested, follow Eric Sachs's Google+ page which would be used to broadcast the event. If you check his page once the event starts, you will see a post in his street about the Hangout, and if you click the play arrow, you will be able to watch it.
This document contains the latest agenda, but here are some topics we expect to cover:
- Demonstration of the current central account chooser running on accountchooser.BIZ
- Technical overview of how the it works, and how the different components connect to each other. Get feedback on how to improve the design.
- Final tasks needed to re-launch accountchooser.COM as a central account chooser. Discuss other ways to improve the operational aspects of the site.
- Update on the OIDF marketing committee efforts to launch accountchooser.NET as a static website with information on how website operators can implement an account chooser. Brainstorm ways for how to make it as technically simple as possible for a site to implement an account chooser.
- Compare the account chooser to other similar approaches like Infocard to see if there are other things we can learn from those efforts
- Evaluate different techniques to support the 2-click consent flow described in the demos
- Discuss the use of the Caja framework to allow a website's homepage to mix an account chooser plus marketing text, thereby created a 1-click consent flow.
- Evaluate interest in open source implementations of the tools a website needs to integrate with the central account chooser
- An update from Google on their plans to update the account chooser in the Google Accounts login system as well as in in the Google Identity Toolkit
